MANCHESTER, England (AP) - Anderson ended a 15-month goal drought for Manchester United on Tuesday to earn a 1-1 draw against Valencia and secure top spot in Group C of the Champions League.
The Brazil midfielder rifled home the equalizer in the 62nd minute after goalkeeper Vicente Guaita had parried Park Ji-sung's strike.
The goal - only Anderson's second for United - kept the three-time European champions unbeaten in all competitions this season.
The 22-year-old Anderson's first goal since finding the net against Tottenham in September 2009 ensures that United cannot face Barcelona or Real Madrid in the last 16.
But United conceded its first goal of this season's group stage when Pablo Hernandez shot between the legs of 20-year-old goalkeeper Ben Amos, who was starting his third senior match.
Michael Carrick was at fault for the goal, the England midfielder being dispossessed 35 meters (yards) from his own goal.
Alejandro Dominguez nipped in, took the ball and ran straight at Nemanja Vidic before rolling a pass to Hernandez.
Wayne Rooney's failure to score from open play for United since March continued, but manager Alex Ferguson was encouraged by his progress since a lengthy layoff with an ankle injury.
"His distribution, his leading of the line and his work rate were outstanding tonight," Ferguson said. "He's getting there, and he's getting there quickly."
Rooney said he feels fit.
"Just in and around the box, I've got to get my sharpness back. But overall I'm happy with my fitness and with my performance today," Rooney said.
United has concerns about Rio Ferdinand's fitness after the center back limped off five minutes into the second half with hamstring problems.

Man United Top Group Despite Draw in Champions League
Here is the goal where Ronaldo to put Manchester United in Semi Final of UEFA Champions League 08/09. Manchester United also a record breaker as they are the first English team to win in Porto's ground.
It was a good match and historical moment for Chelsea and English football entirely. Two English club will face each other in first time in UEFA Champions League Final in Moscow.
The spotlight was on two superb goal by Didier Drogba, emotional penalty kick from Frank Lampard and Avram Grant. Finally Chelsea make it to the history and Avram Grant is the man. He can do what Jose Maurinho and Claudio Ranieri cannot do. But, what do you think? Is Grant better than Maurinho and Ranieri?
Slow start from Liverpool make them hard to get the possession and the night was not for Gerrard or Torres. They seems losing touch and could not connect each other to perform good moves. This situation has been capitalized by Chelsea midfield orchestrated by Lampard, Ballack and Makalele. From my opinion, Makalele is the man who breaks the Liverpool game. Hence, Drogba, Kalou and Joe Cole able to find space to move forward.
Even though The Reds put a good fight after Torres goal, the penalty awarded after Hypia brought down Ballack kill Liverpool game. Hope for magical moment to turn around the table, Liverpool almost do it but it was too late. The night is for Chelsea.
Cheers Liverpool fan!!!
This is my review for one more semi final match between Liverpool and Chelsea. Tomorrow will be Workers Day or Hari Buruh or Hari Pekerja...whatever!!!
So early next morning my friend and I will gather to watch this game between two English rival. What do you think? Bored or excited. I don't know. Sometimes English game is entertaining but sometimes they only run and run and the football game look likes "ping pong" game.
For me, both team have advantage to kill their opponent. But it depends on their maestro of the game tonight. I said the name, Gerrard, Torres, Lampard, Drogba and Petr Cech. I don't know, it just come out from my mine like I always think of Ronaldo and Messi.
If they perform, the team will do well. But if not maybe somebody else will steal the limelight. Or... both team will show the scrappy game..maybe not..
Just enjoy the show tonight.
I woke up early this morning at 2.30am to watch Man United vs Barcelona as Astro ESPN. The thing is, I could not miss every moment of this game for any reason because I believe both teams will demonstrate different style of play with good attacking flair.
Start of the game was very impressive as the ball possession is fair. All eyes was on Messi and Ronaldo to break the defender. But the old man Scholes suddenly steal the show with trademark thunderbolt in 14th minute.
After that, Barca play their game, keeping possession with Eto'o being the main target man and Messi is the feeder. It was not a lay down for United as they keep their wall tight and few times breaking the game with counter attack.
Until the last minute of the game, United find their scary moment in this semi-final tie over and set up first in history all English club final.
Let's wait who is their opponent in Moscow.
Futsal UEFA Cup
Finally I got a chance to watch final game between Russia club Viz-Sinara and Spanish club El Pozo Murcia. The game ended 4-4 after the overtime and Sinara won the game by beating El Pozo in penalty shootout. The pace of the game was very good and please to see. However the level is different from Brazilian futsal.
The Brazilian futsal is more pleased to watch and not stick to tactical moves. When you see it, the flow of the game is more freedom and players is equipped with high level of footie tricks.

UEFA Champions League continue today with second leg game between Man Utd and Barcelona at Old Trafford. This match is definitely crucial for both teams as they might end the season without any trophies.
Barcelona is already out from Spanish La Liga title race and now lay in third place. They only can swept the bitterness if they win UEFA Champions League this season. And for Man Utd, they must focus more on how to retain Barclays Premiership title and repeat the glory of winning UCL in 1999. Chelsea definitely tattered their confidence last week when they defeat Man United 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
The phenomenon
Once again Man United will depend on their stat player like Ronaldo and Rooney. If boht player can deliver, for sure Man Utd will advance and got both trophies. However, we would like to see what is going on in Sir Alex mind. Unforseen tactical delivery.
For Barca, Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o is the key player to drill the United defender. And after SAF lose Vidic last week, it will be headache to arrange the defend for rock solid performance. Unless, Vidic is return and pairing with Ferdinand.
Who's the maestro? Let's enjoy the game.
Chelsea still put a fight in Barclays Premier League title chase after beating Man United 2-1 at Stamford Bridge yesterday. Michael Ballack got the header in the first half and cancelling Rooney goal with a spot kick after foul conceded by Michael Carrick in the dying minutes of the game. It was a morale boost for Avram Grant men as they will face Liverpool in the second leg of UEFA Champions League on Wednesday at the same pitch.
Man United currently in some stage of pressure as they need to win the last two games against West Ham (home) and Wigan (away) to ensure the BPL championship. Before that on Tuesday have uphill task, facing Barcelona in the second leg of UEFA Champions League. They need to win that game also if they still want a double championship this season.
The line up for Man United yesterday is not the best. Sir Alex Ferguson leave Ronaldo and Tevez at the bench maybe to give room for both player prepare for the midweek match. However the plan was not well as Sir Alex lost Vidic and Rooney after both of them out by injuries.
The Blues seems very confident in putting a fight for both BPL and UCL trophies. They might win those trophies or Man United will lost both.
Futsal UEFA Cup
This week I got a chance to watch my Futsal UEFA Cup semi final matches which has been held in Moscow, Russia. First semifinal match was not very interesting to watch. But for me, the
match between El Pozo Murcia (Spain) and Dinamo Moscow (Russia) was much more appealing to watch. The game ended after El Pozo win the penalty decider.
The final match is between Russia club (don’t know it’s name) versus El Pozo. Unfortunately, I don’t know when the game will be played.
PES 2008
Last week I bought PES 2008 DVD. It has been a long time I am not playing console. Hopefully I can play it this week at my nephew’s house. Actually I don’t have a console. I am only game supplier for my nephew.
Big four and Catalans move into semi of UCL
Pasukan Staf sedia berjuang
Nampaknya wartawan ingin bertukar posisi. Ingatkan nak main striker. Team mate lain macam mana. Nampaknya ramai juga yang akan bertukar posisi. Apapun persaingan sihat perlu diwujudkan.
Kini persaingan suku akhir hampir berakhir. Liverpool dan
